My educational approach is student-centered and interactive. I believe that every student learns differently, so I adapt my methods to their individual needs and goals. I focus on making lessons practical, engaging, and step-by-step, so students can immediately apply what they learn in real-life situations.

I use clear explanations, interactive exercises, and plenty of practice in speaking, listening, and comprehension. I also create a supportive environment where students feel confident to make mistakes and grow.

Ultimately, my goal is to help students not only learn the language but also enjoy the process, building both their skills and their confidence.

I hold two Bachelor’s degrees, one in Languages and another in International Business, Marketing, Business Administration, and Law from the University of Tokyo. I also earned a Master’s degree in Languages, specializing in translation and multilingual communication.

I have extensive tutoring experience, both formally and informally. I have helped friends, colleagues, and family members improve their skills in English, Portuguese, French, and Spanish. Many of them needed support with grammar, pronunciation, and fluency for academic, professional, or personal purposes.

In addition, I have worked with translation and localization projects for international companies, which has strengthened my ability to explain languages clearly and adapt to different learning needs. My tutoring style is supportive and practical, focusing on helping learners gain confidence step by step.

My mission

My mission as a tutor is to empower every student to unlock their full potential by providing patient, engaging, and personalized guidance. What inspires me to tutor is the opportunity to make a real difference in students’ lives—helping them not only improve academically, but also build confidence, curiosity, and a genuine love for learning. I believe that with the right support, every learner can thrive, no matter their background or challenges.

My Story

I grew up between cultures, spending part of my childhood in the United States and later moving to Japan, where I completed my studies. Learning multiple languages at a young age helped me overcome challenges and sparked my passion for communication and teaching. My mother, who was a university English professor, inspired me deeply and encouraged me to pursue education as a way to connect with people around the world. Today, I live in Newcastle and work as a multilingual tutor and translator, speaking eight languages fluently. Outside of teaching, I enjoy writing, creating music with my younger brother, and exploring different cultures. My life has been a journey of resilience and discovery, and I bring that same energy to helping students reach their goals.

Cognitive Diversity

How I adapt to students with diverse intellectual needs.

I believe that every learner is unique, and I adapt my lessons to match their strengths, challenges, and interests. Some students learn better visually, others through listening, and some by practicing hands-on. My role as a tutor is to identify how each student learns best and then design lessons that make learning clear and enjoyable for them.

I have experience working with children and adults with different learning styles, including gifted students who need extra challenges and learners who need more patience and step-by-step guidance. I always create a supportive environment where students feel safe to make mistakes, ask questions, and grow at their own pace.

Personally, I have also helped family members with learning difficulties by breaking down concepts into simpler steps and encouraging them with consistent practice. This has taught me that patience, flexibility, and creativity are the keys to helping every student succeed.

I have not yet worked directly with 2e students, but I am open and confident in adapting my teaching methods to support both their strengths and challenges. As a language teacher, I focus on personalized strategies, which I believe can be very effective for twice-exceptional learners.

I have worked with gifted students and understand that while they often learn quickly, they also need lessons that keep them challenged and engaged. My approach is to provide enrichment activities, encourage deeper exploration of topics, and adapt the pace so they can stay motivated. I also understand from my own experience as a fast learner that gifted children need both support and stimulation to reach their full potential.

I have some experience supporting profoundly gifted children, who often need a highly individualized approach that goes beyond acceleration. I focus on providing enrichment, open-ended challenges, and opportunities for creativity and critical thinking. While I do not identify with this learning diagnosis myself, I understand the importance of balancing intellectual stimulation with social and emotional support.

I do not have formal experience tutoring children with ADHD, but I am confident in supporting them. I use short, structured activities, interactive exercises, and frequent breaks to keep focus. I also vary the methods (visuals, speaking practice, games) to maintain engagement and make learning enjoyable.

I have not worked directly with children on the autism spectrum, but I am open and confident in supporting them. My teaching style is patient, structured, and step-by-step, which I believe can provide a supportive and comfortable learning environment. I am always willing to adapt my methods to meet each student’s needs.

I do not have direct experience teaching children with dyslexia, but I am familiar with the challenges they face when learning to read and write. I would focus on using multisensory strategies, repetition, and patience to make lessons engaging and accessible. My goal would always be to build confidence and encourage progress step by step.

I have experience working with children who face sensory processing challenges, and I’ve learned that creating a calm, structured, and flexible environment is essential. Strategies such as offering sensory breaks, using visual supports, and adjusting classroom stimuli can make a big difference. While I do not identify with this diagnosis personally, I am attentive to how sensory needs impact learning and daily functioning.
