My mission

My mission is to help students discover joy and confidence in their ability to communicate and understand the world through language. Whether we’re exploring stories, building vocabulary, or learning to organize writing, I aim to make every lesson engaging and meaningful. I believe that strong reading and writing skills open doors — not only academically, but personally — and I love guiding learners as they find their own voice.

My Story

I’ve been an educator for over ten years and have taught in classrooms, homeschool settings, and virtual environments. My background blends early childhood education, environmental science, and creative arts — which gives me a unique, holistic approach to teaching English Language Arts. I live in beautiful Sebastopol, California, where I create curriculum, write children’s stories, and teach online. When I’m not teaching, you’ll find me exploring nature trails, practicing yoga, qigong, or working on my next creative project.

Cognitive Diversity

How I adapt to students with diverse intellectual needs.

I have worked with special needs students spcializing in autism and ADHD curriculum. I have been tutoring virtually for the last 5 years working with gifted learners tailoring curriculum that engages them where they are at and prompt them to learn at their own accelerated rate.

I currently work with gifted children. They are ESL and they are all studying materials 2 grade levels ahead of their peers. For these students I find that I give them vocabulary to work with and give them exercises that expand their minds and imaginations to keep them engaged.

I have worked with profoundly gifted children. I use emergent curriculum and get them to hone in on their special interests and use this as a scope to learn other things as well.

I have experience working and developing curriculum for ADHD students that have fewer distractions and many more activities to engage the mind in different ways while they learn.

I work with families with children who have autism. For the more profoundly affected it is important to work with the families who are co regulating during the lessons. My style is a graceful mommy-and-me class that meets the kids where they are in these cases and offer support for families.
