Our mission

At Blossom and Root, we believe that curriculum is meant to support and encourage both parent and child in their educational journey. We are committed to creating high-quality, creative, secular homeschool curriculum and resources that empower the parent educator and inspire the young learner.

Our story

I’m Kristina, and I’m the mama of Blake and Brice. I started Blossom & Root in 2015 to share our home education journey with other nature-based homeschooling families. Soon after I started blogging, I began developing our secular, hands-on, creative, and adaptable curriculum. We now offer preschool, pre-k, kindergarten, first through sixth grades, U.S. history, and Book Seeds (STEM-centered, nature-based mini-unit studies.) As a former kindergarten teacher, elementary tutor, arts programming director and educator, ECE teacher, and ECE assistant director, I am passionate about providing secular homeschooling materials that honor creativity, make space for curiosity, and center nature around us and within us.

FAQ: Additional Details about Blossom & Root Mega-Bundle: Early Years Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 and Kindergarten

A sample lesson from the Blossom & Root Early Years bundle might begin with a nature walk where your child collects leaves or observes bugs, followed by a short read-aloud tied to the week’s theme—like seasons, animals, or weather. Back at home, they might explore a simple kitchen science activity, such as mixing baking soda and vinegar to see bubbles form, then transition to a hands-on art project like leaf rubbings or painting to music. The day could wrap up with a few minutes of journaling (drawing or dictating) and listening to a composer of the week. Each activity is brief, open-ended, and designed to spark joy, movement, and connection with the natural world.

The Blossom & Root Early Years Mega-Bundle works by guiding parents through a 36-week open-and-go plan for each level (Vol. 1, Vol. 2, and Kindergarten), using short, daily activities designed to spark curiosity and nurture development through nature, art, and play. Each week includes a nature study prompt (like observing weather or insects), a picture or composer study with discussion questions, a kitchen science or early math activity using everyday materials, and an open-ended art project. Parents read aloud from suggested books (library-friendly lists provided) and invite their child to respond through journaling, storytelling, or creative play. There’s no formal academic pressure—just gentle exposure to foundational skills in a developmentally appropriate, sensory-rich, and relationship-centered way. All content is delivered as downloadable PDFs, with flexible pacing and minimal prep required.

The Blossom & Root Early Years Mega-Bundle is designed for children ages 2–6 and is ideal for families who want a gentle, play-based introduction to learning rooted in nature, art, music, and storytelling. It’s a great fit for caregivers who value connection over academic rigor, and who prefer open-ended activities over worksheets or screen time. The ideal learner is curious, active, and benefits from hands-on exploration and creative expression. It also works well for neurodivergent kids or those with sensory needs, as the program is flexible, low-pressure, and easily tailored to individual rhythms and interests. Families looking for a secular, holistic early childhood curriculum that prioritizes wonder, movement, and family bonding will likely thrive with this program.

The Blossom & Root Early Years Mega-Bundle may not be a good fit for families seeking a highly academic, structured, or screen-based preschool program with formal lessons, workbooks, or assessments. It’s also not ideal for those who prefer a faith-based curriculum, as Blossom & Root is intentionally secular. Parents looking for a completely independent or self-teaching program may find the caregiver involvement too high, as this curriculum relies on guided activities, read-alouds, and creative interaction. Additionally, families who want a fast-paced or skills-focused approach to early reading and math may find the play-based, child-led rhythm too gentle for their goals.

Your child should be familiar with blending simple CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words together, such as "cat" and "mat." We do spend some time on reviewing these, but a familiarity with them with help when beginning this curriculum.

Parent or caregiver involvement in the Blossom & Root Early Years Mega-Bundle is central and hands-on, but relaxed and joyful. You’ll guide nature walks, read aloud from picture books, help set up simple art or kitchen science activities, and engage your child in open-ended conversations and journaling. The curriculum is not designed for independent learning at this age—it’s about building connection through shared experiences. Activities are short and flexible, making it easy to follow your child’s energy and curiosity. Rather than formal instruction, your role is to nurture wonder, provide gentle guidance, and create a calm, supportive environment for early learning.

Due to the digital nature of our products, we do not offer any refunds, returns, or exchanges on any product in our store. All sales are final. Please take time to read all of the information on our website, review samples, read the scope and sequences for your level(s), and reach out with any questions not answered on this webpage before purchasing!

You only need to print the number of log pages that you actually intend to use. For example, if you only plan to use the log for science days, and you plan to cover each science lesson in one day per week, you'll only need 36 log pages printed out. Some families like to use the log every day, five days a week, to record the calendar and to make notes about the weather, or to use it as a journal. That is why we provide so many pages in the original file.

I was so pleased to discover Blossom and Root when I first started working on Modulo. It's an extraordinary, nature-based program designed by a teacher and homeschool mom that our families love. It's one of my favorite resources for families looking for a screen-free, nature-based approach.
