BrainPOP Homeschool is a top-tier, curriculum-aligned digital learning platform that blends fun and depth through 800+ concise animated lessons across core subjects like science, math, English, social studies, and creative arts. Produced by educational experts since 1999, each lesson features the beloved Tim & Moby duo who make abstract concepts relatable and memorable, while embedded quizzes, games, and creative “Make-a-Movie” projects reinforce understanding and engage critical thinking. What makes it unique is the robust Teacher Dashboard—letting homeschooling families assign lessons, track progress, and access standards-aligned lesson plans—making instruction streamlined and meaningful. Families appreciate that it’s open-and-go with no prep, supports various learning styles (visual, auditory, kinesthetic), and provides immediate feedback through quizzes and progress reports. While it works exceptionally well as a comprehensive curriculum tool, it’s also highly effective as a supplement to other learning resources, enabling tailored pacing and multi-subject integration. Modulo reviewers and homeschool parents often highlight its ability to keep learners excited about exploring academic topics independently—especially those who thrive on interactive, media-rich formats

Our story

BrainPOP was founded in December 1999 by Dr. Avraham Kadar, a pediatric immunologist who wanted to make complex medical and scientific concepts accessible and engaging for children. Together with co-founder Chanan Kadmon, they launched animated educational videos featuring the memorable characters Tim and Moby. Over the years, BrainPOP has grown dramatically—used by two‑thirds of U.S. school districts and reaching around 25 million students annually—and in 2022 it was acquired by LEGO’s parent company, Kirkbi, in a deal reportedly worth $875 million

FAQ: Additional Details about BrainPop Homeschool

Students log in, select a topic (e.g. “Volcanoes”), watch a 5‑minute animated video, take the embedded quiz, and then dig into interactive games, concept maps, or printables to solidify understanding.

BrainPOP is ideal for curious learners in grades K–8 (and older with BrainPOP.com) who enjoy visually engaging, concise explanations and benefit from interactive reinforcement. It suits children who appreciate self-paced discovery supported by multimedia and enjoy follow-up activities that deepen understanding.

It may not suit families seeking a full, scripted curriculum with textbook-style instruction or assessments. Older teens needing rigorous, high-school-level coursework or learners wanting screen-free methods could find it too light or technology-dependent.

Educators and parents frequently note that BrainPOP’s short, animated videos and built‑in read‑alouds, quizzes, and visual supports are beneficial for learners with ADHD, autism, and other neurodivergent profiles, helping them stay focused and engaged without feeling overwhelmed

Families of gifted and 2e learners often turn to BrainPOP for its engaging format and wide range of topics. Its short videos, interactive features, and the ability to explore content deeply at one’s own pace make it a strong match for curious minds.

Younger children may want to start with BrainPop Jr.

BrainPOP offers free trials (typically 5–30 days), with subscriptions that can be canceled before renewal. Refunds depend on provider policies and timing

Many families recommend using BrainPOP as a starter for unit studies—watching a video, completing the quiz, and then diving into related books or hands-on activities. Setting a consistent viewing schedule, combining BrainPOP Jr. and BrainPOP for different age levels, and exploring the Educators portal for lesson extensions make the platform a rich, flexible tool for homeschool settings

Our learning specialists give their honest evaluation
ManishaCEO and Founder

BrainPop is our top choice for a mastery-based, all-in-one curriculum for kids who love learning through videos and adaptive learning apps. We find it's a particularly good choice for children who struggle with hands-on activities and do better on screens.
