Raquel C
I’m a dedicated educator with over a decade of experience supporting students of all ages in language learning, literacy, and academic success. I hold two master’s degrees from the University of Southern California—one in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and another in Learning Design and Technology—and have worked as an ESL instructor, early childhood educator, and academic tutor. I’ve been tutoring with Modulo for a year now, where I bring a warm, inclusive approach to every session while tailoring my methods to each learner’s needs. Whether I’m helping a child build foundational skills or guiding a teen toward academic confidence, I always aim to spark curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning.

My mission
My mission as a tutor is to create a supportive, inclusive learning environment where every student feels seen, heard, and capable. I strive to meet each learner where they are, tailoring my approach to help them build confidence, develop strong academic skills, and spark genuine curiosity. Whether I’m working on foundational literacy or advanced test prep, I aim to make learning meaningful, engaging, and empowering for every student I meet.

My Story
I’ve always loved working with young people and knew early on that education would be a big part of my life. My tutoring journey began over a decade ago through Upward Bound, where I had the privilege of mentoring first-generation college-bound students. That experience shaped my commitment to educational equity and personalized support. Over the years, I’ve taught and tutored in many different settings—preschools, language programs, virtual classrooms—and I continue to be inspired by my students’ resilience and growth. Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading, exploring curriculum design, and staying connected to community-based education work.

Modulo's thoughts
Our learning specialists give their honest evaluation
Raquel is one of our most highly skilled, competent tutors. Families love the structure, preparation and intentional scaffolding Raquel brings to all her tutors. I can't recommend her enough for any family looking for a warm, dedicated tutor to help their students thrive academically.
Raquel is one of the first tutors I turn to when a new family requests a tutor on Modulo. She's incredibly caring, well-organized and goes above and beyond to communicate with parents outside of lessons. Raquel is a particularly good fit for any family who is looking for extra support with kids in school, or transitioning from homeschool to a more traditional school environment. I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to work with her and so grateful she is here to support our students.
