UC Scout
9th-12th
UC Scout is a program from the University of California that provides online high school courses and resources. Founded in 1999 to help bridge educational gaps, it has grown into a trusted resource serving homeschoolers, independent learners, and schools throughout the state and beyond. UC Scout offers nearly 70 A–G approved, AP®, and college-prep courses. Students learn through engaging videos and interactive assignments, have access to a live teacher, and parents are able to track their progress. It’s an ideal fit for motivated, independent learners and families seeking UC-approved online coursework, but it may not suit students who need daily, in-person interaction. Parents value the program’s flexibility, academic rigor, and affordability. Scholarships are available for credit-bearing courses, and supplemental instructional videos are available at low- or no-cost for students.
I'm not 100% sure of our specific approvals for government funding programs, but UC Scout is a state-funded non-profit educational program. We have had many students from Ocean Grove and other charter schools take our courses.
In the Basic plan, which provides instructional video resources for supplemental learning (not credit-bearing), students enrolled in a public California school or district can access courses for free, otherwise courses are $29 per course, per semester.
In the On Demand plan, which provides full online courses for credit, the cost is $399 per student, per course, per semester. Scholarships for a $349 discount are available to eligible students; eligibility requirements and application information available at ucscout.org/scholarships.
