My approach to teaching emphasizes immersion and interactive, play-based learning. I believe in creating an environment where students are engaged and actively using the language through context, gestures, visuals, and storytelling. I focus on helping learners build vocabulary and foundational skills in a natural, enjoyable way, rather than relying on rote memorization. To keep the experience fun and meaningful, I incorporate cultural elements like songs, festivals, and stories, while also using educational tools and apps to encourage consistent practice. Additionally, I tailor my lessons to each student's needs, adapting pacing and techniques to support all learning profiles, including neurodivergent or special-needs students.

I have a rich and diverse educational background that combines my passion for art, education, and communication. I studied Art Education and Chinese Literature in college in China, which gave me a strong foundation in creative teaching methods, as well as a deep understanding of Chinese language and culture. Later, I earned a journalism certificate and spent over 10 years working in the newspaper industry, primarily in the education section. This experience allowed me to refine my communication and writing skills while staying informed about the latest educational trends. I now bring all of these insights into my teaching, creating an engaging and well-rounded learning experience for students

I have extensive experience tutoring both online and in-person, working with students from preschool to teens. In my online role, I designed interactive lessons using flashcards, games, storytelling, and real-life examples to keep students engaged. I also integrated Chinese culture into lessons to deepen understanding. In my previous teaching roles, I tailored lessons to each student's needs, using multimedia tools to enhance engagement and adapting content to various learning styles.

How I adapt to students with diverse intellectual needs.

I have experience working with children with ADHD and have found that using games and interactive activities is a great way to keep them engaged. I make sure to keep lessons fun and dynamic, incorporating activities like flashcards, charades, and songs to hold their attention. By turning learning into a playful experience, I’ve seen students become more motivated and excited about their lessons. I also break lessons into smaller, manageable chunks to help maintain focus and avoid overwhelming them. This approach has helped create a more positive and productive learning environment for kids with ADHD.
