Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy integrates both scholarly theory and practical application, grounded in the
belief that education is a transformative and collaborative process. Drawing on constructivist learning
principles and real-world engagement, I see the classroom as a space where students critically
examine communication while applying skills in digital media practice. I design my courses to bridge
theory and practice, encouraging students to analyze cultural narratives, evaluate media systems, and
produce creative projects that demonstrate both scholarly depth and professional competencies.
Assignments emphasize authentic learning—through research, collaboration, and multimedia
production—helping students connect classroom knowledge to broader career and community
contexts. Equity, inclusion, and accessibility are central to my teaching. I intentionally incorporate
diverse perspectives, support multiple learning styles, and foster a respectful environment where all
students feel valued. By creating active and participatory learning opportunities, I empower students to
recognize the impact of their voices and their roles as ethical communicators. Ultimately, my goal is to
help students become critical thinkers, skilled practitioners, and lifelong learners who leave my courses
with confidence, creativity, and a commitment to making meaningful contributions to their fields and
communities.

I’ve always enjoyed helping others learn. Over the years, I’ve tutored classmates, friends, and family members in subjects like writing, art, and communication studies. My approach is patient and supportive — I try to explain concepts in different ways until they truly understand. I also focus on building confidence, not just memorization. Seeing someone have that “lightbulb moment” is one of the most rewarding parts of the learning process for me.

My mission
My mission as a tutor is to empower each learner to discover their own voice, embrace their strengths, and build confidence in their ability to grow. I believe that learning is not just about mastering facts — it’s about cultivating curiosity, creativity, and self-belief.
My Story
I grew up in a family that valued creativity, resilience, and curiosity. From a young age, I found myself drawn to visual storytelling — photography, art, and performance became my way of exploring the world and expressing myself. Along the way, I faced learning challenges that taught me the importance of patience and adaptability. These experiences shaped my belief that everyone learns differently, and that education should honor individuality.
Cognitive Diversity
How I adapt to students with diverse intellectual needs.I approach cognitive diversity with the understanding that every learner processes information differently, and that difference is a strength, not a challenge. My goal is to create a supportive learning environment that honors each child’s unique way of thinking. I begin by observing how students engage with material — whether they learn best through visuals, hands-on practice, verbal discussion, or creative expression — and then I adjust my teaching methods to fit those needs.
When working with children who have learning differences, I focus on patience, structure, and encouragement. I use multi-sensory approaches, breaking down complex ideas into smaller, achievable steps while celebrating progress along the way. For gifted students, I emphasize depth and exploration — offering open-ended projects or critical thinking challenges that allow them to stretch their creativity and curiosity.
Overall, my tutoring philosophy centers on empathy and flexibility. I believe that when students feel seen, supported, and understood, they’re more likely to take ownership of their learning and reach their fullest potential.
have experience working with twice-exceptional (2e) students — children who are both gifted and have learning differences. What I’ve learned is that these students often thrive when given both structure and creative freedom. My approach focuses on recognizing their strengths while providing compassionate support in areas that may present challenges. I design lessons that encourage curiosity, imagination, and critical thinking, while also offering scaffolding and tools to help manage frustration or sensory overload.
I believe 2e learners bring an incredible richness to the classroom. They often see connections others might miss, and their perspectives can be deeply original. My role as an educator or mentor is to create an environment where those gifts are celebrated, not overshadowed by learning differences.
On a personal level, I connect with the idea of being “twice-exceptional” because I understand what it means to learn differently while still having strong creative or intellectual passions. That experience helps me approach all students with patience, flexibility, and empathy — meeting them where they are and helping them grow with confidence.
have experience working with children with ADHD in both in-person and online learning settings. I find that the key to keeping students with ADHD engaged is creating lessons that are interactive, varied, and adaptable to their needs. I focus on breaking lessons into short, manageable segments with clear goals and incorporating movement, visuals, and hands-on activities whenever possible.
For online learning specifically, I use strategies such as:
• Frequent check-ins to keep attention focused.
• Visual timers to give structure and help with time awareness.
• Interactive tools like drawing boards, polls, or quick games.
• Flexible pacing so students can move between activities without feeling overwhelmed.
• Positive reinforcement to celebrate effort as well as results.
My approach is grounded in patience, creativity, and empathy. I’ve learned that children with ADHD often thrive when learning feels active and engaging, and when they are encouraged to use their unique strengths to explore and express ideas.
On a personal note, I value the energy and creativity ADHD learners bring, and I see it as an opportunity to design lessons that are dynamic, playful, and meaningful.
I’ve had meaningful experiences working with children on the autism spectrum, both in creative learning environments and through community-based art projects. My approach centers on patience, structure, and creativity — I find that art, movement, and storytelling often provide wonderful ways for children on the spectrum to express themselves and build confidence.
I focus on understanding each child’s communication style and sensory needs, creating a calm and supportive space where they feel comfortable exploring and learning at their own pace. Whether it’s through visual schedules, hands-on activities, or quiet reflection time, I strive to meet every child where they are and celebrate their individual strengths.
On a personal level, I deeply value neurodiversity and the many ways people think and experience the world. My experiences have taught me that every child has a unique rhythm of learning — and when we honor that, incredible growth can happen.
