I always adjust my approach to teaching in accords to my student's specific needs. In general, I prefer a Socratic method where I coax a student's understanding through strategic questioning and get the student to be an active part of their own education.

My mission

My mission as a tutor is to make the world better by helping people become more informed about the world. I want to use my passion for education to help students along their academic careers and journey. I have seen how transformative education can be for people and for communities. My goal is to instill in my students a passion for life-long learning and give them the tools they need to become the best versions of themselves.

My Story

Cognitive Diversity

How I adapt to students with diverse intellectual needs.

I take in feedback from students and often from their parents as to what approach(es) work best for the student. For example, with a student with ADHD, I might break up the lessons into smaller portions than normal (like 5 minutes as opposed to 15 minutes) so that any learning difficulties can be overcome. I also take into account a student's body language and tone and can generally tell when a student might need a break or might need a new approach to thinking about the given material.

I have worked with gifted kids and helped them achieve their lofty standards (such as 1500+ SAT scores)

I have worked with profoundly gifted kids and helped them achieve lofty goals.

I have worked with several children with ADHD and I have been able to help them overcome learning difficulties and be able to pass classes and achieve high scores on standardized tests like the SAT and ACT.

I have worked with children with sensory processing challenges and got them to be able to pass their classes when before they were failing classes.
