My approach to teaching is rooted in personalization, patience, and purpose. I believe that every student learns best when they feel seen, capable, and supported. I take time to understand each learner’s strengths, challenges, and interests so I can adapt my instruction in a way that connects to them personally. Whether we’re working on writing skills, preparing for an AP exam, or building study habits, I focus on creating a calm, structured, and encouraging environment that promotes confidence and curiosity.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership. I am currently pursuing my Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership at South College, where my research focuses on inclusive practices and personalized learning. In addition, I’ve completed professional development and certification courses in leadership, special education, and human resource management through institutions like the University of Minnesota and Western Governors University.

I have over twenty years of experience teaching and mentoring students from middle school through college. In addition to my classroom work, I have tutored students in English, reading, writing, and social studies, as well as guided many through AP course preparation, college essay writing, and test readiness. I’ve also supported families through individualized learning plans and academic goal-setting, helping each learner find strategies that match how they process and retain information best.

My mission

My mission is to empower every learner to discover their confidence, curiosity, and unique potential. I believe education should honor how each child learns, not ask them to fit a single mold. Tutoring allows me to connect personally with students, helping them overcome challenges, celebrate small wins, and rediscover joy in learning. As both an educator and a parent of a neurodivergent child, I’m inspired every day by the resilience and brilliance of students who think differently. My goal is to create learning experiences that are engaging, inclusive, and full of possibility, where every child feels capable, valued, and proud of who they are.

My Story

I grew up in South Florida in a close-knit, bilingual family that always valued education, perseverance, and faith. From a young age, I loved learning and helping others discover their strengths, which led me to pursue a career in education that’s now spanned over twenty years. I’ve served as a teacher, mentor, and principal, but my greatest growth came through motherhood. My son, Daniel, has a processing disorder and reading disability, and walking alongside him has changed how I see teaching and learning. It taught me that progress looks different for everyone, and that patience, empathy, and creativity can transform a child’s confidence.

Today, I live with my family in Florida, where life is full of laughter, books, and meaningful conversations. I’m completing my Doctorate in Educational Leadership, continuing my mission to make learning more inclusive and accessible for all students. Outside of work, I enjoy designing educational resources, reading, and spending time with my family. My story is one of faith, resilience, and love for helping every learner, especially those who’ve been told they can’t, discover that they absolutely can.

Cognitive Diversity

How I adapt to students with diverse intellectual needs.

My tutoring philosophy is centered on understanding and embracing cognitive diversity. I’ve worked extensively with students who are neurodivergent, including those with ADHD, dyslexia, processing differences, and gifted learners. I focus on flexible teaching methods, breaking down concepts into manageable parts, using visual and verbal scaffolds, and celebrating small successes to build momentum.

As both an educator and a parent, this work is deeply personal to me. My son, Daniel, has a processing disorder and a reading disability, and walking alongside him on his learning journey has profoundly shaped how I teach and advocate for students. It has given me a firsthand understanding of the patience, creativity, and encouragement it takes to help a child feel successful. I truly believe that when we meet learners where they are and honor the way they think, we open the door for them to thrive with confidence and pride.

I have extensive experience working with twice-exceptional (2e) students who are both gifted and have learning differences. Many of my students have excelled in areas like creative writing or analytical thinking while needing targeted support in reading fluency or organization. As a parent of a neurodivergent child, I deeply understand the balance between nurturing strengths and addressing challenges. My approach centers on building confidence, providing structure, and celebrating each learner’s unique brilliance.

I have worked extensively with gifted students who need enrichment and challenge to stay engaged. I design lessons that promote critical thinking, inquiry, and creativity while also addressing social-emotional needs. I believe gifted learners thrive when their intellectual curiosity is balanced with empathy, collaboration, and self-reflection. I enjoy helping these students stretch their thinking while learning to manage perfectionism and pressure.

My experience with profoundly gifted students includes mentoring learners who operate several grade levels above their peers, particularly in reading and writing. I provide depth rather than acceleration, encouraging analysis, discussion, and real-world application of knowledge. For these students, I focus on social-emotional balance as much as cognitive challenge, helping them connect their intellectual abilities with purpose, empathy, and self-awareness.

I have extensive experience working with students with ADHD, including many who thrive with structure, movement, and frequent feedback. My tutoring sessions are interactive and paced intentionally to keep engagement high. Online, I incorporate tools like shared whiteboards, short timed tasks, and goal tracking to sustain focus. I emphasize routines, encouragement, and accountability without overwhelming the learner. I’ve also guided families in developing systems that reduce frustration and build confidence, helping students channel their energy into productivity and self-belief.

I have supported several students on the autism spectrum throughout my career, both in traditional classrooms and individualized tutoring settings. My approach centers on clear communication, structure, and predictability while maintaining flexibility to accommodate sensory and emotional needs. I use visual supports, positive reinforcement, and student choice to promote engagement and comfort. I deeply value each student’s unique perspective and work to create an inclusive environment where they feel understood and respected.

I have supported many students with dyslexia throughout my career, including my own son, Daniel, who has a reading disability and processing disorder. Watching his progress has profoundly shaped my empathy and teaching approach. I use structured literacy techniques, multisensory strategies, and frequent confidence-building moments to promote success. My goal is to help students see reading not as a barrier but as a skill they can master with the right tools, pacing, and encouragement.

I have supported children with sensory processing challenges, especially those who need structured transitions, calm environments, and sensory breaks during learning. My sessions emphasize regulation before instruction, because students learn best when their bodies and minds feel safe. I often integrate soft background music, choice-based seating, and movement breaks. As a parent who has navigated similar needs with my son, I understand how powerful it is when students are given tools to manage their sensory world with confidence.
