My approach to tutoring is well-rounded and flexible. I start by getting to know each student’s learning style and goals so I can tailor my lessons to their needs. I like to create a positive and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes — that’s how real learning happens. I also focus on building independence by guiding students to think through problems rather than just giving answers. Each session has structure and clear objectives, but I always adjust as needed to keep lessons engaging, effective, and student-centered.

I have two Associate's degrees in Mathematics and Chemistry. I also have a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry with a minor in Psychology. I graduated from both Merced Community College (2019) and U.C. Merced (2022).

I have approximately two years of experience professionally tutoring college students through the Merced Community College tutorial center. I would teach students for 12 hours a week, both in group sessions up to 10 students large and in one-on-one sessions. Prior to my math group sessions I would sit in on Algebra lessons and create mini lesson plans which were approved by the professor.
I also have approximately 2 years of freelance tutoring experience. I have assisted both high school and college students with Algebra and Chemistry courses. I even helped one college student with his Chemistry lab course.
(I have found myself to be the go-to-tutor for my friends and family.)

My mission

My mission as a tutor is to help students grow — not only in knowledge, but in self-belief. I’m inspired by seeing students go from doubting themselves to feeling proud of their progress. Helping them discover their strengths and enjoy the process of learning is what motivates me every day.

My Story

I live in the California Central Valley. I grew up in the country near Yosemite National Park. I was homeschooled from 5th-9th grade.

When I was in middle school, I failed pre-algebra and had to retake it. I thought I would never be good at math or like it. Then I got to high school and I had an amazing Algebra teacher who helped me to totally get it. I asked a lot of questions and worked hard. I not only did well in math, but ended up getting my Associate's degree in it and tutoring others.

When I was in my college Introduction to Chemistry course, there was a tutor that sat in my class to take notes for the group sessions she taught. I went to her sessions with my classmates. She noticed how good I was at teaching and let me help run some of the sessions. She encouraged me to apply for a tutoring job at the college the next semester. I did and I ended up teaching college students there for about 2 years.

Cognitive Diversity

How I adapt to students with diverse intellectual needs.

I approach every student as an individual with their own way of understanding and processing information. When working with children who have learning differences — whether they need more support or more challenge — I focus on identifying their strengths and using those as the foundation for learning. For example, I may focus heavier on the use of visuals and hands-on examples for students who learn best through seeing and doing, or I may break complex problems into smaller, more manageable steps for students who benefit from structure.

I’ve learned that patience, encouragement, and flexibility are key. I adjust my methods as I get to know each student, making sure lessons stay engaging and at their pace. I’ve also had experience supporting gifted students by challenging them with open-ended problems and creative projects that deepen their understanding (like, "teach me how you solved that problem") rather than just accelerating through material.

Overall, I aim to make each session a space where students feel capable, curious, and supported — no matter how their mind works.

I have not personally tutored anyone online with this diagnosis.
