Kamba, also known as Kikamba, is a Bantu language spoken primarily by the Kamba people in southeastern Kenya, particularly in the regions of Machakos, Makueni, Kitui, and parts of Nairobi. It belongs to the larger Niger-Congo language family and shares linguistic features with other Bantu languages, such as noun class systems and agglutinative structure. Kamba is used in everyday conversation, cultural practices, local media, and education in Kamba-speaking regions, though many speakers are also fluent in Swahili and English due to Kenya’s multilingual environment. The language plays an important role in preserving the Kamba community’s identity, oral traditions, and cultural heritage.
