I love to create educational plans that can be formatively assessed in a deep sense of understanding. Not just surface level mimicking of what the teacher does, but taking off the training wheels and see if they can ride on their own. My goal is to teach simply and thoroughly so that a student fully comprehends and solidifies processes in their own way!

My mission

My mission is to teach kids of a broad range that math is actually not hard or scary, but methodical and life-applicable. I love bridging the gap between daily life and all the math that lives within it!

My Story

I have grown up in Texas my whole life. I began coaching and teaching when I was only 21 years old finishing my college degree. I come from a family of coaches and educators. I wanted to teach math because it is what I saw myself using the most in daily life, and I know how much students hate math as a majority growing up (I DID!)

Cognitive Diversity

How I adapt to students with diverse intellectual needs.

I have taught all across the levels of knowledge. GT students in a high honors class (most years of experience) all the way down to students who are 2-3 years behind schedule in high school taking algebra 1 as sophomores/juniors. I love differences and finding kids strengths.

I have taught GT kids for several years. I have ran "Extension Tutorials" after school to give extension past what objectives we were learning in class, and push them to dig further themselves.

Lots of experience. Every year I have had multiple students with the diagnosis. I have no issue redirecting and allowing them to speak and circle back to task.

I taught for two years with two different students with autism in class. Both were high-functioning with sensory and specific parameters that I helped maintain in the classroom setting.

I have taught approximately 8-10 kids with known dyslexia. I did not have too much trouble in the math setting with this. However, reading problems to them and further breaking down the text together is extremely important.
