Cognitive Diversity

How I adapt to students with diverse intellectual needs.

I use thr AINE method for tutoring. Adapt: every student has a different learning style and prime environment. Some need a more structured approach. Others need a more relaxed environment. I have thought students with learning disabilities across the spectrum.
Interact: I use the I do ,We do, You do approach with a strong emphasis on scaffolding to gradually allow the student to gain confidence and work on their own.
Never give up: Students should feel empowered by their mistakes and gain confidence instead of losing confidence. Mistakes help you learn and I do my best to Instill a positive outlook to make students more confident.
Engage: Students will struggle to learn if they can't enjoy the subject or hate it. My goal is to bring enjoyment into learning. I'd like to help my students see learning as an activity rather than a chore.

I have had several students with ADHD. I keep students engaged by giving them space to break from the lesson and then pulling their attention back. For every 30 minutes of study you should take a 5 minute break . This si advised for even medical students. I apply this to teaching my adhd students . Ehen they need space to talk I give it to them. For those who need more structure we can plan breaks.
