Recommended Ages

Best for elementary learners ages 5–10 who want a window into everyday family life in different countries

Families of the World is a documentary video series that follows children and their families in different countries, showing daily routines like school, meals, chores, and celebrations. Episodes highlight both similarities and differences in how kids grow up around the globe, making abstract “culture” lessons much more concrete. Parents and teachers appreciate the gentle narration and child-centered framing, which work well for elementary and middle grades. As part of geography, social studies, or multicultural units, the series helps humanize faraway places and encourages empathy.

Individual DVDs cost about $19.99 each, streaming individual episodes are around $8, the full DVD set is $350, and a two‑year streaming bundle of the entire series is about $250
