Recommended Ages

Designed for children ages 3–11 (roughly preschool through 5th grade)

Oxford Owl is a free site from Oxford University Press that offers leveled ebooks, phonics support, and simple math games for primary-aged children. Parents can register for access to a digital library of decodable and leveled readers, along with tips for supporting reading and spelling at home. Teachers and homeschoolers appreciate that many books mirror those used in UK schools and that audio options are available for some titles. It’s best for early readers through about age 9. Because availability of specific books can change, it works well as a supplement rather than your only source. Scheduling regular “Oxford Owl reading time” alongside print books keeps practice varied.

Oxford Owl for Home provides a free ebook library and support materials for ages 3–11 when parents register; additional printed books and school subscriptions from Oxford University Press are purchased separately.
