Quindew

Quindew is a free online reading and writing program for grades 3–12 that turns comprehension practice into gamified “quests.” Students read adaptive texts, answer scaffolded questions, and complete short writing tasks while earning points and badges, with built-in feedback nudging them toward deeper thinking. Created by literacy educators to address gaps they saw in traditional programs, Quindew aims to support close reading without endless test-prep drills. Parents appreciate that the core platform is free and accessible via browser, making it easy to add to a language arts block. As with any screen-based tool, it works best alongside rich book reading and discussion, not instead of them.
