Siyavula

Siyavula is an online math and science platform widely used in South Africa that combines open textbooks with adaptive practice for grades 7–12. Students can read high-quality, freely available texts and then work through exercises that adjust in difficulty based on performance, giving them targeted feedback and extra problems where needed. Developed in collaboration with educators and government partners, Siyavula aims to make rigorous STEM resources accessible regardless of location or budget. Parents and older learners appreciate that core materials are either free or low-cost and aligned to real exam standards. The interface assumes solid reading skills and a certain level of independence, so it’s best suited to motivated teens. Outside South Africa, the curriculum can still be useful for practice and alternative explanations, especially in algebra and physics.
