I'm from Flint, Michigan and have lived here my whole life. When I graduated high school I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. When I became a substitute teacher, I wasn't expecting it to be something long term but that's what it turned into! I taught many different age groups K5-12. I enjoy learning as much as teaching and that is why I want to try to take this opportunity to teach virtually. I enjoy reading as well as history because of the great stories that come with the different characters. When I'm not teaching I enjoy spending time with friends and family, traveling, playing video games, and playing soccer. I have a goal to one day be fluent in another language.

I would say that my approach varies on the situation. I am student-centered when it comes to understanding a certain way that a child will attain the knowledge they need. I'm also teacher-centered when I see that a student is advanced to a degree of understanding.

I went to Schoolcraft college, a junior college in Livonia Michigan, and I got my associates taking Education courses as well as volunteering to work with Elementary students. Afterwards I transferred to Spring Arbor University and eventually got my bachelor's degree in Sociology. When I graduated, I was undecided with what I wanted to do career wise and eventually became a substitute teacher to earn a living and that eventually brought me into tutoring.

I have done substitute teaching for about four years now and have learned a lot. For example, understanding that this generation is different and technology is the new way to teach, and it's needed. I have been to different schools within my county, K5-12th grade. I have also mentored many different students offering a help when it comes to not only assignments but rides home from after school programs. I understand the needs of my students and just want them to be the best they can be.

Subject Expertise

My mission

My mission is to help the student grow. When I was young and needed tutoring, I did not become the best in the subject overnight. I slowly but surely improved because I had someone to guide, as well as discipline me to be better. I will see where each student is and bring them to an area of improvement, that is my goal.

My Story

I have been interested in a tutoring position for quite some time. I would like to tutor online because of the fact that I'm a substitute teacher I can't teach summer school. I also see many of the benefits such as making my own hours and understanding a set schedule. But most importantly, I want to use this opportunity of tutoring to teach year-round and improve myself as an overall educator.

Cognitive Diversity

How I adapt to students with diverse intellectual needs.

I have taught children with many different special needs. Whether ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia etc. I have worked at every school from elementary, middle school, and high school. I have seen it all and have always been adaptable in my work to help.

I belive so because I will have my classroom based on understanding and patience. I have dealt with 2e students before and I accept the challenge. I understand 2e students can have different levels and gifts in certain subjects so I will take note, be aware, and prepare.

I do believe so because I have experience working with both gifted and profoundly gifted children and understand that the levels are all over the place. I will prepare and acting accordingly, I am also excited because I can see how their mind works and see their genius when it comes to work.

Patient and adaptive

My Goal was to get better grades, and Celeb helped me by teaching different study methods that made it sample for me to use when it came to tests and colleges course He was effectively in teaching me different ways to learn concepts that were hard for me. He was patient but still pushed me when I needed to be pushed. He has a way of understanding where you coming from and changes the method to a way it’s easier for me to learn the concepts.
