With 19 years of professional experience as an educator, I have dedicated my career to inspiring students and fostering a love of learning. I have enhanced my expertise by earning both an ESOL Endorsement and a Reading Endorsement. My passion spans across multiple subjects including Math, Science, Reading, and Social Studies, making me a versatile and knowledgeable guide in the classroom. When schools out, I immerse myself in activities that broaden my horizons—whether reading a captivating book, exploring new travel destinations, hiking through nature’s beauty, or cherishing quality moments with my daughter, husband and the family dog Bell. My commitment to education and vibrant personal interests create a well-rounded and engaging presence, both as an educator and as an individual.

Education isn’t just about what students learn but about learning how to learn. While I believe in trying new teaching methods, I also find that traditional learning activities can still be effective. Group work and discussions play a major role in my instructional style. Students who learn to work cooperatively at a young age are better equipped to succeed in school, in their future careers, and in their communities. Every student has their own unique talents, skills, challenges, and background. By getting to know my students as individuals, I can help them find the learning styles that work best for them, now and throughout their education.

My mission

The mission of our class is that every child has a voice. We will be outstanding leaders with a plan each day and begin with the end in mind. A "Can Do" Attitude is a must and we will listen to people without interrupting. We believe in ourselves and each other. It makes us happy to see other people happy. Each morning or evening we come in with a smile and a hug and ready to work. Teamwork is the best for our classroom of leaders.

My Story

I guess an interest in tutoring starts with the realization that a lot of people need help, and they are either too shy to ask for it from someone they know, or the teacher is a bit over-bearing (maybe a lot) and that prevents them from taking the liberty of asking questions in class. Some of the students I work with on a one-to-one basis have noted that there are learning difficulties or skills they just need more practice in - a mainstream teacher/lecturer would not necessarily have the ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach or resources, and here a tutor can really make a difference in assisting a student in getting up to standard or growing those skills that are keeping them back.

Cognitive Diversity

How I adapt to students with diverse intellectual needs.

As a person who was diagnosed, as a student, with a learning disability, I understand the frustration these students and parents go through in trying to retain and process information. Through my 19 years, I have had several students who had special education needs such as learning disabilities.

I do not have any gifted certification for teaching students who are gifted.

I do not have any gifted certification for teaching students who are profoundly gifted.

I have not had any experience during my 19 years that has allowed me to teach students with ADHD.

I do not have any special education certification for teaching students who are autistic.

I do not have any special education certification for teaching students who are dyslexic.

I have not had any experience with these types of students during my 19 years of teaching.
