Danna Ricci is a caring music and literacy tutor who believes deep learning happens at a steady, thoughtful pace. A Magna Cum Laude graduate in Culture and Arts Education with a music specialization, she has taught readers from early elementary to adults and given guitar and piano lessons, always pairing clear feedback with encouragement. Danna personalizes lessons by first understanding a student’s learning style and interests, then uses routines, stretch breaks, choices, and scaffolded tasks to keep attention high, including for learners with ADHD or autism. She has led school clubs in theater, bands, and voice, organized student performances, and supports beginners through patient coaching and immediate, constructive feedback. Warm, humorous, and steady, she helps students build confidence while developing lasting skills in reading, writing, and music.

I see teaching as a journey that can take different directions. My goal is to guide students to learn slowly and carefully, as I believe true understanding develops at a steady pace before one can work more quickly and confidently. At the same time, I recognize my responsibility for what my students learn in class. For this reason, I make it a priority to provide proper and immediate feedback that supports their growth and helps them reach their full potential.

I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Culture and Arts Education with a specialization in Music from the Philippine Normal University in Manila.

Since 7th grade, I have been helping younger students learn, and over time I have also gained experience teaching someone three times my age. I have given guitar tutorials during the summer and taught children how to read and write. I find one-on-one tutoring very effective because it allows me to closely observe my students’ progress and their attitude toward learning. These experiences have also taught me the value of patience, which I believe is essential in helping students succeed.

My mission

My mission is to love through teaching and to teach with love. I am inspired by the unconditional love of God, which is not based on performance or achievement. In the same way, my love for my students is not dependent on what they can or cannot do. I choose to journey with them because they are valuable human beings, worthy of patience, care, and encouragement.

My Story

I live and grew up in the Philippines, where the challenges in education are not only personal but nationwide. One cannot learn because of hunger, and one hungers because of the lack of knowledge. Corruption weakens the system and affects the way students grow, often leaving many to doubt their potential. I can relate to that struggle, because as a child I also lacked confidence. Whenever I played basketball and the ball came to me, I would panic, afraid to make a mistake. Yet through the patience of my teachers and coaches, I slowly learned to face challenges with courage. That journey reminds me that just as I overcame my fears, our nation too can rise above its struggles through perseverance and trust. In the classroom, I carry that lesson with me: students learn best when teachers believe in them, and when both are willing to walk the journey together.

Cognitive Diversity

How I adapt to students with diverse intellectual needs.

The first step I take is to identify what type of learner my student is, as well as their hobbies and interests, and then use those to connect with them. Building that connection creates a safe space where students can learn comfortably. To better support different kinds of learners, I also read research online to find effective strategies and tips.

My overall experience in inclusive education has been both tiring and rewarding. I have had moments where students shouted at me or even accidentally hurt me, but I see those challenges as part of the learning journey. These experiences have strengthened my patience, empathy, and dedication, and I believe they are the main reasons why I choose to teach.

I am not sure if this is a learning diagnosis I identify with, but I can relate to many of the symptoms I’ve read about, and even my friends sometimes tease me about it. While I know it’s not proper to diagnose myself, I often notice that I can be easily distracted if a lesson doesn’t capture my interest, I can be hyperactive or impulsive at times, and I sometimes struggle with organization.

Because of this, I try to be mindful of what I wouldn’t want to experience in a lecture when working with students who have ADHD. To keep them engaged online, I use interactive tools, establish a clear routine, include stretch breaks, offer choices, and scaffold tasks. I also make sure to keep lessons short and focused to prevent overwhelming them with too much information at once.
