I grew up in Waukesha, WI. I went to the neighborhood public schools in Waukesha while growing up and then decided to get my Bachelors in Elementary Education Carroll College (now University). I received that and then a few years later I went to get my masters in Reading at UW-Whitewater. I have experience in working with children with autism at their homes and with learning disabilities in the schools. I have taught students in small groups and large groups. I taught online through COVID. I am homeschooling my daughter with autism (she is a non-speaker AND VERY SMART), since my background in teaching lends me to do that so well, I thought I would have other children benefit as well. I enjoy reading, spending time with my kids, watching my son play Lacrosse and my daughter swim.

I find out how the student learns best and tailor it to how the student learns. I will be using slides, videos and interactive games and explicit instruction when needed.

My mission

My mission is to be the spark that lights the curiosity fire in each child, so they can find their passion and help the world improve tenfold!

My Story

I am currently a single mom, homeschooling my 14 year old non-speaker. She is smart and uses spelling to communicate. Hence me wanting to stay home and find a way to work remotely. A fun fact about myself is that I love to read! I stay up late and read just like I did when I was a kid!

Cognitive Diversity

How I adapt to students with diverse intellectual needs.

Yes! I have been an ABA autism therapist and my 14 year old daughter has autism (non-speaking). I am homeschooling her using spelling to communicate, because the school won’t offer that as a way to teach.

Yes! My daughter has autism AND is very smart! I am a loud and strong advocate for my students. I have 4 semesters worth of masters college credits and have worked with students with autism and learning disabilities and they are all smart in their own way! Presume competence always!

Yes! I want to make sure every child has a chance to be the brightest and find and hone their potential giftedness!

Tutoring profoundly gifted students could be a good fit, but I like tutoring the students that might fall through the cracks. Sometimes that does include students who are profoundly gifted, so perhaps!

Yes! I am very flexible and have tons of experience working with and teaching students that have ADHD.

Totally yes! My daughter has autism and I have worked with kids and adults in the past in all sorts of environments, schools, job sites, small group, one-on-one.

with my reading masters and special education background, tutoring students with dyslexia would be a great fit!

Possibly. I understand sensory issues because of my daughter and am aware of ways to help students thrive while still having to deal with sensory issues.
