I'm the oldest sibling of six, and I've always had a passion for learning and teaching; I have fond memories of teaching my sister how to read when I was in early elementary school and she was in Pre-K. I've always lent a helping hand to peers where I could, and this included providing peer reviews for many assignments during high school. I took AP courses in a variety of subjects and was awarded with the AP Scholar of Distinction. In high school, I worked as a Peer Assistant in a Special Needs English classroom. I graduated with a 4.0 and went on to receive my associate's degree in liberal arts, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Professionally, I worked with children with autism for 6 months. I love to share my passion of learning with students and hope to hear from you soon!

I love to meet students where they're at, and I draw real-world examples to the skills they're learning. I may also incorporate a student's hobbies and interests into their work, and find ways of integrating new vocabulary into current discussions.

I have my associate's degree in liberal arts, graduating with Summa Cum Laude recognition. I was an AP Scholar for two consecutive years. I received a reward for my performance in advertising for the Future Business Leaders of America club. I'm an enrolled member in the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. I received the playwright 'excellent' reward from Thespian Society. I was a recognized ambassador during the Ambassador Leader Summit at Yale University, 2018.

I tutored my younger brother in all subjects for a year. We covered third grade materials, and the curriculum was adjusted as needed due to my brother's autism diagnosis. I was a peer assistant in a Special Education language arts classroom for a semester as well; the material was mid-elementary, and the students were young teenagers. During high school, I reviewed the essays for peers in my AP Language Arts class and critiqued them, so that corrections could be made prior to submitting them to the teacher. I've worked the past six months as a Behavior Technician, teaching effective coping mechanisms and behavior management strategies to children with autism from the ages of 2-7 years old.

My mission

My mission is to make my students love learning. Teaching a student material is always an important goal, but long-term, students that want to learn will find more opportunities to do so. I aim to introduce ways to make learning engaging and interesting, such as fun tongue twisters in English or silly applications of long division.

My Story

I've always loved learning new things. Initially, I wasn't very academically successful, but a great teacher intervened when I was in the 5th grade and really helped me to soar. I later went on to join an honor society in college, where I later graduated as Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA. Education is all about the resources you have, and I think tutoring is a great opportunity to help students to reach their fullest potential.

Cognitive Diversity

How I adapt to students with diverse intellectual needs.

Two of my younger siblings were in the gifted program, and I assisted them with their materials during elementary and middle school. All of my siblings have ADHD, as do I, and both me and my brother are diagnosed with Autism. I was also enrolled in the 2e program at my school, and assisted my brother with overcoming his dyslexia while learning, employing assistive tools to help. As well, I worked in a Special Education classroom for a semester in high school, where I assisted the teacher in delivering the classroom curricula. For the past six months, I've also worked as a Behavior Technician, wherein I would assist young children with behavioral needs in learning effective coping skills and behavior management strategies.

I do. I myself was a 2e child, as were my siblings, though our school did not separate this group from gifted students. I learned effective skills in achieving academic excellence and overcoming any challenges, and I instructed my siblings on how to do the same.

I do. My siblings and I were enrolled in the gifted level classes, throughout elementary and middle school. I have first-hand experience with the pace and increased expectations of gifted students, as well as the unique challenges presented with maintaining the academic prowess of gifted students.

Yes, my younger sister is considered profoundly gifted and scored within the top 5% on her FCAT exams in the 7th grade. I assisted in tutoring her and helping her to review the materials, and while every child is different, I do believe that living with her and watching her learn has assisted me in how to properly tutor a profoundly gifted child.

I do. I myself have ADHD, as does everyone in my immediate family. I learned first-hand how to use my ADHD to my advantage, and I also learned how my family managed theirs. I've seen multiple expressions of ADHD, and was able to effectively tutor all family members.

I do. I myself have Autism level 1, and I also worked in an environment for six months with children with higher level ASD as well as behavioral disorders. My brother, whom I taught for a year, is also diagnosed with ASD and has other behavioral challenges. I was still effectively able to instruct from the textbook, with modifications as needed to address and overcome the unique challenges presented with this diagnosis.

I do. I myself have dyslexia, and my younger brother does as well. I instructed my younger brother for a year, and we implemented line-readers to assist with many assignments. As well, for math problems, we would use different colored highlighters to highlight the different numbers so that his calculations could remain consistent. Other tools and modifications were implemented as needed to accommodate his learning, and I am more than willing to implement the same for my students.

I do. For six months, I worked as a behavior technician with children with autism and associated behavioral challenges. Many of these children had sensory processing needs as well, and I was professionally instructed in how to accommodate these needs.
