Arithmetic Village

Recommended Ages

Designed for early elementary learners in roughly PreK–3rd grade who are beginning arithmetic.

Arithmetic Village is a story-based math curriculum that uses gentle picture books and hands-on activities to introduce early arithmetic concepts. Created by an educator who wanted math to feel kind and imaginative rather than scary, it invites children into a whimsical village where characters model addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with jewels and simple visuals. Parents of visual or reluctant learners like the low-pressure, play-infused approach and the way activities can be done with simple manipulatives at home. While it doesn’t offer the drill of a traditional workbook, Arithmetic Village can be a lovely, relatively affordable way to build positive early math experiences.

Arithmetic Village offers storybooks and printable activities; for example, a downloadable bundle of all five books is about $11 on Teachers Pay Teachers, with additional activity packets sold separately.
