Recommended Ages

Designed for grades K–12 with activities suitable for beginners through advanced coders.

Hour of Code is a global initiative led by Code dot org that offers dozens of free one hour coding activities for learners of all ages. Tutorials use themes from popular stories, games, and real world problems to introduce block based and text based programming in a browser, no prior experience required. The campaign began as a way to show that anyone can try computer science and has since reached hundreds of millions of students during Computer Science Education Week and beyond. Families and co op leaders use Hour of Code activities as low prep workshops, rainy day projects, or on ramps into deeper coding courses, often discovering which style of coding their children enjoy most.

Hour of Code tutorials on Code.org are offered free of charge for students and educators.
