Designed for about grades 3–6 (ages 8–12) as part of Google’s Be Internet Awesome curriculum

Teaching digital citizenship can feel abstract, and many kids tune out as soon as adults start lecturing about online safety. Interland, part of Google’s Be Internet Awesome program, is one of the few tools we’ve found that turns privacy, kindness, and security into a genuinely fun browser game. Designed by Google with educators, Interland sends kids on colorful quests where they make choices about sharing information, handling bullies, and spotting scams, with built-in teaching prompts. We love that it feels like a real game, not a thinly disguised slideshow, and that each world targets a different digital citizenship theme you can discuss afterward. It’s best for roughly 3rd–7th graders who already have some online experience and need practice applying family rules in realistic scenarios. The game is short and works best as a supplement, not a full curriculum on its own, but as a free resource it’s an easy win for busy families. Pro tip: play alongside your child the first time and pause between levels to connect in-game situations to your household tech rules.

Free browser-based game from Google; access costs $0 in US dollars.
