For younger kids, full-blown robotics kits can feel overwhelming; LEGO WeDo 2.0 was designed as a gentler on-ramp. This entry-level LEGO Education set pairs simple motors and sensors with guided projects and block-based coding, all framed around science and engineering challenges. Teachers and parents like that it aligns with elementary science standards and comes with detailed lesson plans. It’s ideal for early-elementary learners who are ready for basic coding but still benefit from step-by-step support. WeDo 2.0 has been phased out in favor of newer LEGO Education systems in some markets, which can make finding new sets harder, but many classrooms and families still use existing kits happily. Pro tip: treat each official project as a launchpad—after completing it once, ask kids how they could change the build or code to solve a slightly different problem.

The WeDo 2.0 Core Set (45300) is retired; used sets commonly sell for about $100–$250, while unopened sets can reach roughly $300–$400+.
