Recommended Ages

Designed for families with children from birth through about age 8, with a companion PJ Our Way program for ages 9–12.

Jewish families often want a home library that reflects their holidays, values, and everyday experiences but may not know where to start. PJ Library solves that beautifully by mailing carefully selected Jewish children’s books (and sometimes music) to enrolled families each month, typically at no cost thanks to community sponsorships. Created by the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, the program partners with local organizations to curate age-appropriate titles that highlight traditions, ethics, and diverse Jewish stories from around the world. We love the surprise and delight factor—a new book every month—and the way it gently supports parents in reading and talking about Jewish life, even if they’re not sure what to choose on their own. It’s a wonderful fit for families raising Jewish kids, interfaith households, or anyone wanting more Jewish representation in their picture-book shelves. Availability and eligibility vary by region, and some areas have waitlists, but when it’s accessible the value is outstanding. Pro tip: keep PJ Library books in a special basket near Shabbat candles or holiday items so they naturally get pulled out during family rituals.

Free Jewish children’s book subscription program; books and music are mailed monthly at no cost to enrolled families, funded by local partners and donors.
