The Action Lab

Recommended Ages

Best for middle school and high school students; advanced elementary kids may also enjoy

The Action Lab is a YouTube science and engineering channel where creator and former engineer James Orgill tests quirky questions with real experiments and slow‑motion footage. Episodes range from non‑Newtonian fluids on a trampoline to what happens if you open a vacuum chamber under water, giving tweens and teens a fun peek at physics and chemistry in action. Parents like that Orgill explains the “why” behind each demo in fairly accessible language, so videos work well as hooks before more formal study. Because some demos involve risks you shouldn’t copy at home, we recommend watching together and using them as conversation starters rather than lab instructions. It’s completely free and easy to weave into a weekly “wow” video routine.

Science demonstration videos are free to watch on YouTube; optional channel memberships and merchandise are separate.
