TV5Unis Francolab Junior
Designed for elementary French learners in roughly grades K–6.
Supporting kids in French when you’re not a native speaker—or when textbooks feel dry—can be intimidating. After combing through apps and video sites, Francolab Junior quickly became a favorite because it pairs short, authentic French videos with ready-made activities and worksheets. Created by francophone educators and broadcasters to support immersion and FSL learners, the platform groups clips by theme and level, then adds games and printable resources so you can build full lessons from each segment at no cost. We love how much real culture kids absorb while hearing natural accents and everyday vocabulary, not just classroom phrases. It’s an excellent fit for elementary and early middle-grade students who already have some French and need more listening and comprehension practice. Navigation and some instructions are primarily in French, which can feel daunting for true beginners or non-French-speaking parents, but once you understand the layout the content is rich and generous. Pro tip: pre-watch each video, pre-teach a handful of key words, and watch again with subtitles so kids catch more language and feel successful.
Francolab Junior is a free online platform from TV5 Québec Canada with no subscription cost.
