Recommended Ages

Supports educators teaching Native history and culture with curriculum materials and tribal sovereignty resources for preK–12 students in Washington.

Washington Native Education resources, hosted by the state education department in partnership with Tribes, include curricula and materials that teach local tribal history, sovereignty, and contemporary Native life across grade levels. Homeschool families in Washington (and beyond) can use these units to go far beyond generic “Native American” lessons and instead learn about specific Nations, treaties, and present-day issues. Created collaboratively with tribal educators, the materials align with state requirements like “Since Time Immemorial” and are largely free to access. They’re best used alongside local field trips and tribal-created media when possible.

Curriculum guides and resources from Washington’s Office of Native Education are provided free of charge online.
