My mission

My mission as a tutor is to inspire a love of learning in every child by creating a supportive, engaging, and personalized educational experience. With over 10 years of experience in elementary education and a certification in reading, I am passionate about helping young learners grow in confidence and skill—especially in foundational areas like literacy. My background as a graphic designer allows me to bring creativity and visual clarity into my teaching, making lessons more accessible and enjoyable for all types of learners. I pride myself on my calm demeanor, which helps create a safe and nurturing environment where students feel encouraged to take risks, ask questions, and reach their full potential. I am driven by a genuine love for children and a deep belief in the power of education to change lives.

My Story

I grew up in a small town in Massachusetts and now live in Connecticut with my husband, our two young daughters, and our playful dog, Kona. As a mom, I understand how important it is to find someone who genuinely cares about your child's growth and well-being. My passion for education began early, inspired by my fifth-grade teacher who saw potential in me before I even saw it in myself—an experience that continues to shape the way I connect with my students today. I’ve always believed in the power of perseverance and encouragement, values I carried with me through years of running track and cross country in both high school and college. Whether I’m at home with my girls, out for a run, or working one-on-one with a student, I bring patience, positivity, and a deep commitment to helping others grow.

Cognitive Diversity

How I adapt to students with diverse intellectual needs.

I have taught all types of learners as an educator. When I taught fifth-grade, I always had 4-6 special education students in my class. I have also taught non-verbal students as well as gifted. I have navigated these learning differences by getting to know each child. Once I have an understanding of who they are and how they learn I am able to differentiate my instruction. Some children learn better with a hands-on approach while others may be more visual or auditory learners.

I have had students in my class who have been identified as gifted. In order to keep them engaged I find what interests them the most and then find resources, games, projects and challenges that will excite them.

I have taught many students with ADHD. I am able to keep students engaged online through movement breaks, educational scavenger hunts (for example..."Can you find me a sphere in your house? Go get it!") and more.

I have taught many students on the autism spectrum. Each child has unique learning needs and I am able to adapt to determine what works for them. Finding what helps them learn brings me so much joy!

I am a certified reading specialist. I hold a Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner certification.
