Natavan is a seasoned TESOL specialist with an MA in TESOL from the University of Bath and 15 years of classroom and tutoring experience; she is available daily 10:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. EST. Her teaching blends communicative language teaching with content and language integrated learning and practical educational technology, so lessons build both subject knowledge and academic literacy. She begins with careful diagnostic assessment, then personalizes instruction with multimodal resources and scaffolded steps—perfect for students who need structure and for gifted learners who want depth. Natavan has served as a Language and Learning Support Coordinator and classroom teacher, has supported learners with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia, and regularly tutors middle, high school, and college students in ESL, English language arts, reading, writing, and creative writing. Her work has been recognized as a Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement Fellow (Appalachian State University), awarded a British Council special commendation for her dissertation research in CALL, and featured at international conferences including QuickFire 2023 (University of Warwick) and the Linguistics and Knowledge About Language in Education Conference (University of Cardiff). She uses project-based, gamified, and multisensory activities to keep lessons engaging and transferable, and she often brings short travel-and-cooking stories into class to spark curiosity and cultural connection.

My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that learning should be both academically rigorous and student-centred, with a strong focus on language development as a tool for accessing knowledge across disciplines. Drawing on my background in TESOL, sociolinguistics, and cross-curricular instruction, I design lessons that integrate critical thinking, creativity, and intercultural awareness.
I adopt a blended pedagogical approach that combines communicative language teaching with content and language integrated learning (CLIL), ensuring that students not only master subject content but also develop the academic literacy and study skills needed for long-term success. In my practice, I prioritise creating inclusive and supportive learning environments where multilingual learners feel empowered to take intellectual risks. I incorporate educational technology and computer-assisted language learning (CALL) tools to enhance engagement, personalise instruction, and foster autonomy.

My mission

My mission as a tutor is to empower students to unlock their potential by making learning accessible, engaging, and meaningful. I am inspired to tutor because education is not only about academic success but also about building confidence, resilience, and curiosity. Having worked with learners from diverse backgrounds and abilities, I am passionate about creating supportive environments where every student feels capable of achieving their goals. What motivates me most is seeing students grow, whether it’s mastering a challenging concept, developing their voice in academic writing, or gaining the confidence to pursue opportunities beyond the classroom.

My Story

Cognitive Diversity

How I adapt to students with diverse intellectual needs.

In my teaching and tutoring practice, I see cognitive diversity as a strength that enriches the learning process. Every student brings a unique set of skills, interests, and challenges, and I believe that tailoring lessons to these differences is the foundation of effective education.
My approach begins with a diagnostic assessment and careful observation to understand each learner’s profile. For learners with specific challenges, I design structured, step-by-step instruction that incorporates multimodal resources (visual, auditory, kinesthetic) to make abstract concepts accessible. For gifted students, I provide differentiated pathways through inquiry-based projects, critical analysis, and extension activities that challenge them to apply knowledge creatively and independently.

In my role as a Language and Learning Support Coordinator and classroom teacher, I have worked with children with ADHD and other attention-related challenges. I understand that these learners often benefit from lessons that are highly structured, engaging, and interactive.
When tutoring online, I use several strategies to keep students with ADHD focused and motivated
