Mae is an inclusive ESL and French tutor who keeps lessons lively, practical, and kind. She adapts to each learner, mixing conversation, reading, and confidence-building routines that make languages usable right away. An au pair turned educator, she taught English to two young students while living in France, then earned a journalism degree and a CELTA. Mae understands attention challenges and uses short, engaging tasks to keep momentum high. Fun fact: she worked in a famed French cheese shop and builds a charcuterie board like a pro—perfect for a food-themed vocabulary session.

Monday through Friday 9am-12pm then 2pm to 5pm

My mission

My mission as a tutor is to help those feel understood, welcomed heard as well as included. As somebody that struggled with learning a different language, I can understand how frustrating it is so my goal as a teacher is to be patient, kind and understanding

My Story

I’m 25 years old. I grew up in a small town in upstate New York however, I lived in France for six years. One of those years was as an au pair where I taught English to two little boys. I fell in love with the culture and language and decided to stay for the next five years and get my degree in a French journalism school. Here I was the only English speaker/international student so I had to learn to accept being different. Some of my teachers were not as understanding some even very disheartening. So as a teacher myself now I strive to be better for my students.

I feel like adapting your lessons and making sure that everybody feels included and understood is the most important approach

Speaking from personal experience, it is hard to keep people engaged and keep their attention on you as somebody who struggles with ADHD. I feel like I have a few methods up my sleeve that will help in this area.
