Brookelyn is a compassionate reading, writing, and study-skills tutor who meets students with patience and practical tools. As a mom of four—including a child with severe dyslexia—and a dyslexic learner herself, she understands what genuine support looks like: clear routines, multisensory strategies, and steady encouragement. She holds an A.A., a B.S. in Criminal Justice, and is completing a master’s in psychology. A former police officer and probation officer, Brooke brings calm, structure, and a strong sense of service to every session. Most mornings you’ll find her on a stroller-paced prayer run before a day of books, Legos, and trampoline time with her kids.

My methods are catered to each student's specific needs. Learning can be formal and informal.

I have a Associates of Arts degree from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. A bachelor's in criminal justice from Faulkner University. I am pursing my Master of Psychology at Faulkner University and will finish in the spring.

I have four children who have enormous amounts of homework each day. One of my children is severe dyslexic, so we have to take a different approach for homework. This has allowed me to gain some knowledge in the area of dyslexia, as well as what methods help.

How I adapt to students with diverse intellectual needs.

Each child has specific needs. Their needs are met by acknowledging both their strengths and weaknesses. Encouragement as well as constructive criticism is proven to help students succeed. I suffer from dyslexia so personally I have to go back and re-read things as well as highlight important notes to stand out. My son suffers from severe dyslexia, and it is very challenging to navigate.

Keeping focus can be difficult, but maintaing engagement can be done by communicating with the student on what interest them and apply it to the areas where they are struggling.

I am dyslexic and I have a son with dyslexia. Patience is needed as well as a quite space for concentration.
