My teaching approach is student-centered, adaptive, and focused on building confidence. I begin by assessing the student’s current level, then tailor lessons to their unique learning style: whether visual, auditory, or hands-on. I incorporate structured practice, test-taking strategies, and real-life applications to keep lessons engaging and relevant. My goal is not only to improve academic performance but also to help students develop lifelong learning skills.

I hold a Master’s degree in Telecommunication Engineering, a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunication and Information Engineering, and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Dedan Kimathi University of Technology. I also earned certifications and conducted advanced research in wireless communication, with publications in peer-reviewed journals. Currently, I am pursuing an Modern Classrooms Teaching Certification at Modern Classrooms Project to further strengthen my expertise in teaching systems and technology.

I have over five years of experience tutoring students from high school through college in subjects including mathematics, SAT preparation, physics, and computer science. I have worked as a professional tutor with Upswing, supporting students in SAT Math, Reading, and Writing, and previously taught diploma-level courses at Dedan Kimathi University. Beyond formal tutoring roles, I have also mentored peers and guided students on academic projects, study skills, and career development.

My mission

My mission as a tutor is to empower every student to discover their potential and grow in confidence, both academically and personally. I am inspired by seeing learners overcome challenges, master new skills, and gain the courage to tackle subjects they once found difficult. For me, tutoring is not just about grades; it’s about building a lifelong love of learning and showing students that they are capable of more than they imagine.

My Story

I grew up in Kenya, where education was seen as the gateway to opportunity, and I was fortunate to be guided by teachers and mentors who believed in me. Their encouragement inspired me to dedicate my own career to helping students succeed. Over the years, I’ve worked with children and young adults across many levels, supporting them in subjects like math, science, and languages, as well as in test preparation and study skills. Today, I live in Nairobi, where I balance my work as a tutor and lecturer with hobbies like nature, music, soccer, and traveling. Tutoring allows me to combine my love of learning with my passion for mentorship, and I take pride in tailoring lessons that meet each student’s unique needs.

Cognitive Diversity

How I adapt to students with diverse intellectual needs.

I believe every student learns differently, so I personalize my lessons by combining multiple strategies such as step-by-step modeling, guided practice, and interactive questioning. I have worked with students of diverse cultural and academic backgrounds, and I always focus on patience, encouragement, and scaffolding learning. My experience includes adapting lessons for struggling students as well as providing enrichment for gifted learners. Because I understand how important it is to make learning relatable, I use real-world examples and digital tools to support different kinds of minds.

I have worked with gifted students who need enrichment beyond their regular curriculum. I design challenges that go deeper into concepts, introduce advanced material, and connect subjects to real-world applications. My goal is to keep them engaged, inspired, and motivated while encouraging curiosity.

I have experience tutoring children with ADHD, particularly in SAT prep and core subjects. To keep them engaged online, I use short, interactive activities, frequent check-ins, and digital tools that allow movement and variety. I also set clear goals for each session and celebrate small wins to build momentum.

I have experience tutoring students who struggle with math concepts, including those with dyscalculia. I use visual aids, manipulatives, and real-world examples to make abstract ideas concrete. Repetition and step-by-step modeling are central to my approach, along with lots of encouragement to reduce math anxiety.
