My approach to teaching is all about making learning fun, practical, and personalized. I believe every child learns differently, so I tailor lessons to fit each student’s pace and interests.
I use a mix of stories, games, and conversation practice to help students not just memorize words but actually use Chinese in real life. I also include cultural elements to make learning more meaningful and engaging.
Most importantly, I create a supportive and encouraging environment where kids feel confident to try, make mistakes, and grow. Learning should be enjoyable, and I’m here to make sure it is!
I have a bachelor’s degree from Shanghai Ocean University, and I also studied at Illinois State University and Florida Institute of Technology. With this diverse background and being a native Mandarin speaker, I’m well-prepared to teach Chinese clearly and effectively.
I’ve taught Chinese at my church’s Chinese school and helped my three kids learn Mandarin at home. I also lead children’s groups at BSF, and I’ve taught English to international friends at Cornerstone Church. Helping friends and family practice languages in real-life situations has been a rewarding part of my experience.

My mission
My mission is to help children learn Chinese with confidence, joy, and curiosity. I’m inspired by the way language connects people and opens doors to new cultures and experiences. As a mom and teacher, I love seeing kids grow—not just in their language skills, but in their excitement to learn. I aim to create a positive, supportive space where every child feels seen, encouraged, and capable of reaching their full potential.
My Story
I grew up in China and now live in the U.S. with my husband and our three young children. I’ve always loved languages and teaching, which led me to earn degrees from Shanghai Ocean University, Illinois State University, and Florida Institute of Technology. Over the years, I’ve taught Chinese at my church’s Chinese school, led children’s Bible study classes at BSF, and helped my own kids learn Mandarin at home. Being both a teacher and a mom has taught me how to meet children where they are — with patience, creativity, and care. My life today is full of joyful chaos, from homeschooling to cooking Chinese food, painting, and playing tennis. I feel grateful for the chance to help kids grow and discover the beauty of language and learning.
Cognitive Diversity
How I adapt to students with diverse intellectual needs.I believe every child learns in their own unique way, so I personalize lessons by paying close attention to each student’s strengths, interests, and challenges. For kids who learn differently or are gifted, I adapt my teaching pace and methods — sometimes using more visuals, stories, or hands-on activities to keep them engaged and motivated.
As a mom of three young kids, I understand that patience and flexibility are key. While I don’t have a formal diagnosis myself, I’ve supported children with different learning styles and challenges through my church teaching and leadership roles. I’m also familiar with balancing the needs of gifted kids who may get bored easily or need extra challenge, and I try to keep lessons both fun and stimulating.
Above all, I aim to create a warm and encouraging space where every child feels valued, understood, and excited to learn.
We have some kids in the church has ADHD. To keep kids engaged online, I use a mix of games, songs, visuals, and real-life examples that make the lesson fun and interactive. I also include things they’re already interested in — like animals, food, or hobbies — and turn those into part of the lesson. With younger kids, I keep activities short and varied to match their attention span.
As a mom of three, I’ve had plenty of hands-on experience figuring out what keeps children focused and what doesn't. I also understand that some kids need a little more movement, encouragement, or breaks — and I adjust my teaching style to fit those needs. I believe learning should be joyful, not stressful, and I always try to create a warm, low-pressure environment where kids feel safe to try, speak up, and have fun.
