Every student learns differently. My approach to teaching is to work to a student's strengths by breaking down the material into understandable pieces, using a style that appeals to the student, and creating engaging and challenging content. Students are so much more than a test score, but unfortunately, most colleges and universities require standardized testing for admission. I'd like to help students build their confidence in test-taking while also understanding that a number doesn't define them.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Applied Psychology from SUNY Farmingdale, a Master's degree in Integrative Neuroscience from SUNY Stony Brook, and a Data Science certification from Springboard

I've been tutoring since I was in high school. It started off by helping friends and family, but quickly grew into a side gig while I was in college. I continued tutoring for a while even after landing my first full time job, simply because I love it. I also briefly worked as an adjunct professor at SUNY Farmingdale.

My mission

Everyone deserves the chance to learn and succeed, but there isn't a one-size-fits-all approach to teaching that is effective. I want to help students who tend to struggle academically feel more confident and prove that they have what it takes to get through a tough course, pass a test, or just improve their overall comprehension. Likewise, for those students looking for an extra challenge, I'm ready to push them to their limits in a constructive and healthy way.

My Story

I grew up and currently live on Long Island, NY. School always came easy to me. I devoured books at an alarming rate during my childhood and I'm not embarassed to admit that I was the top Mathlete in middle school. That being said, my parents never pressured me to do more than what I wanted. They nurtured my thirst for knowledge and followed my lead, but I wasn't punished for a B on a test; I wasn't force to sit inside every day of the summer cramming for the SAT and ACT - I studied and completed my schoolwork because I always wanted to learn more. My favorite question in the classroom, was "Why?"

Cognitive Diversity

How I adapt to students with diverse intellectual needs.

I like to think that my extensive education in psychology, combined with my technical skills creates a nice balance for students of all learning abilities. I've grown up with a younger sister with a developmental disability, which coincides with multiple learning disabilities. I know what it's like for an education system to underestimate someone based on their differences, and I won't stand for it. Everyone deserves the right to learn at their own pace. I've also worked with a lot of gifted students due to my background in all AP classes and my own high SAT/ACT/GRE scores. As long as a student is willing to learn, or at least give me a chance, I'll put in the work to help them succeed.

My sister also has ADHD. I'm familiar with the challenges of keeping kids engaged and I work to break down my curriculum into smaller, digestible pieces. In addition, I use positive reinforcement to keep kids motivated when then complete small tasks that contribute to a greater learning module.

My sister has ASD. I've worked with her on her educational endeavors for years and I've expanded my work to other students with ASD.
