BBC Bitesize
Supports learners from primary through secondary school, roughly grades 1–11.
When you’re filling gaps in middle or high school, it’s easy to get lost between full curricula and random YouTube videos. BBC Bitesize has become one of our favorite free tools for quick, reliable review across a wide range of subjects. Produced by the BBC for UK learners, Bitesize organizes concise explanations, animations, and quizzes by age band and exam level, covering everything from primary maths to GCSE-level science and literature. We love how clear and digestible the pages are—kids can revisit a tricky concept in 10–15 minutes and immediately check their understanding with practice questions. It’s especially useful for upper-elementary through high school students who are prepping for exams, switching curricula, or just need a second explanation that isn’t from Mom or Dad. The content is tailored to UK frameworks, so terminology and examples won’t always match U.S. standards, but the core ideas are solid and well-presented. Pro tip: bookmark a “troubleshooting” folder of Bitesize pages for your child’s hardest topics and send them there first when something isn’t clicking.
