Jolly Phonics / Jolly Grammar

Jolly Phonics and Jolly Grammar is a multi year literacy curriculum from Jolly Learning that teaches phonics, spelling, and grammar through songs, actions, and colorful workbooks. Created by British educator Sue Lloyd and colleagues, it follows a synthetic phonics approach in which children learn letter sounds and blending explicitly in a carefully ordered sequence. Jolly Grammar then builds on this base with spelling patterns, punctuation, and parts of speech, again using multisensory cues to aid memory. Families and schools around the world use Jolly materials to support early readers, especially when they want systematic phonics with plenty of repetition and a playful feel.
