I grew up in Los Angeles, California with two older siblings. Growing up, I would help my mom babysit kids ranging from babies to elementary school kids. I was also helping my friends and peers around me with their schoolwork. Many people in my class have approached me to ask if their answers were correct, or if I was able to help them with an assignment. I was always happy to help. I knew people around me needed help, and I was happy to be able to help them. I got accepted and committed to UCR. I wasn’t helping as many people as I did before, so I decided to become a tutor for kids to be able to help when they needed it. I helped with their math and English work, and I also enjoy meeting new people and learning about their interests.

My educational approach could vary from student to student overall, I like to show the problem and demonstrate how to solve them. Once I show them how to solve the problem I work on a secondary problem where I slowly increase their participation to increase their knowledge on the lesson. I will ask if they want to work on the problems by themselves or together for practice problems, which lets me know their confidence on the topic. I also ask questions along the way of solving the questions, which lets me know their understanding of the topic. Once I feel they are ready, I will let them try the questions by themselves. I observe how they solve the questions, which helps me see what they struggle on if they do struggle. I will answer questions, provide corrections, and clear any misunderstandings during this time. When I see that the student has grasped a clear understanding of the topic we will move on to the next topic to be learned.

I have a highschool diploma. I am also attending UCR and I am majoring in electrical engineering. In high school I have won a courage, mastery, California State Seal of Biliteracy, and the Golden State Seal Merit Diploma.

I have experience with tutoring for a year with kids in the grade levels 1-5th. I have also helped friends with their homework and assignments all throughout highschool and first year of college.

My mission

My mission is to make sure my students have a good understanding with a safe environment on the topics they need support on. Past students of mine will ask to go over another question, or if we can work together various times, and I will go over the topic with them until they feel comfortable. They have told me I’m very patient and kind. When I hear this it makes me happy because I have been able to provide an environment where they can ask questions, make mistakes, and ask for help. My students will make mistakes, and by having an environment to make those mistakes will help us learn.

My Story

I grew up in Los Angeles, California as the youngest sibling, I have a passion for mathematics and teaching myself new things. In my free time, I taught myself guitar and drawing. During my k -12 years I have noticed my peers around me had trouble with their schoolwork. I would always help them out, and many were impressed how well I was able to explain these topics to them. Some even said I explained it better than the teacher did. I helped my friends all throughout middle and high school. Now, I am in college. I have helped my friends with algebra, pre-calculus, and beginning of calculus. I have mainly taught math, but I also have experience in teaching English, mainly reading and comprehension. I have always helped the people around me with work, why couldn’t I help others who weren’t around me? This led me to start remote tutoring with kids.
