Rights and Respect and Responsibility

Rights, Respect, Responsibility (often called the 3Rs) is a free, K–12 comprehensive sexuality education curriculum developed by Advocates for Youth. Lessons emphasize three core values: that young people have rights to accurate information and bodily autonomy, that mutual respect underpins healthy relationships, and that everyone has a role in responsibility and safety. Educators and parents appreciate that the curriculum is age-banded, medically accurate, LGBTQ-inclusive, and aligned with national sex ed standards. It’s best suited for schools and organized programs, but many homeschoolers adapt lessons for home use. The progressive framing may not fit all communities, so previewing units is important. The fact that it’s free and complete makes it a major resource in this space.
