Visual Latin

Recommended Ages

Recommended for roughly grades 4–12, most often used in middle and high school

Visual Latin is a humorous, video-based Latin course from Compass Classroom in which teacher Dwane Thomas explains grammar in short, lighthearted lessons. On-screen text, printable worksheets, and translation exercises reinforce what students hear, and families can pause or replay as needed. Parents like that the tone keeps middle and high schoolers from feeling overwhelmed by declensions and cases, and that lessons are easy to slot into a weekly schedule. It’s a paid program, but the combination of video teaching and reusable PDFs makes it a solid value for multi-year Latin study.

Each Visual Latin level is sold as a separate course, with typical digital or streaming versions costing around $140 and some vendors offering options starting near $105.
