8th Grade Social Studies

Eighth grade social studies often ties together big themes from earlier years, helping students think more critically about history, government, and current events. Our 8th Grade Social Studies collection brings together vetted, secular resources for homeschoolers, afterschooling families, and caregivers teaching learners around ages 13–14. You’ll find curricula focused on U.S. history, civics and government, or global studies, plus primary-source-based programs, simulations, and tutors who facilitate thoughtful discussion. Every resource is reviewed for historical accuracy, inclusive perspectives, and age-appropriate rigor so teens can analyze causes and consequences, not just memorize answers. Use the filters to sort by focus area (US history, civics, world history, or geography), format (books, unit studies, online courses, or project-based programs), and learner profile, including ADHD, dyslexia, autism, giftedness, or 2e. Many families also connect 8th grade social studies to civic action or personal heritage projects. If you’re unsure how to structure this year, Modulo’s AI learning concierge can help you select social studies resources that match your teen and your goals.
