Black History

Our Black History collection helps kids and teens engage with Black leaders, communities, resistance, creativity, and everyday life across time—not just in one month of the year. Homeschoolers, afterschooling families, and caregivers will find vetted, secular resources that center Black voices through primary sources, biographies, historical fiction, documentaries, and inquiry-based curricula. We look for materials that treat Black history as American and global history, highlighting joy, innovation, and organizing alongside oppression and struggle. Every resource is reviewed for historical accuracy, cultural sensitivity, and age-appropriate depth, with options for elementary through high school learners. Use the filters to sort by era (enslavement, Reconstruction, civil rights, contemporary), format (books, unit studies, online courses, or tutors), and learner profile such as ADHD, dyslexia, autism, or 2e. Many families pair these materials with U.S. and world history courses to build a fuller story. If you’re unsure where to start, Modulo’s AI learning concierge can suggest a Black History path that fits your values and your child’s readiness.
