Konstantin holds two master’s degrees, one in Aeronautical Engineering and Air Traffic Control and another in International Relations, and for the past six years he has served as an Assistant Professor at the Defense Language Institute teaching Russian language, history, culture, and geopolitics to government employees. He also brings professional experience as an interpreter, translator, and English teacher and has worked with learners of all ages and backgrounds. Konstantin begins by assessing each student’s strengths and needs and then designs a customized plan that uses visual supports, short focused segments, and real-world projects to build skills and confidence. He has experience supporting students with ADHD, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, dyslexia, and twice-exceptional profiles and adapts strategies—for example structured repetition, visual anchors, and goal-oriented tasks—to make learning accessible and durable. Students and families appreciate his thoughtful, patient style and the way he enriches language lessons with wider topics from astronomy to geopolitics to keep curiosity alive.

I use a variety of approaches tailored to individual needs. Each case is unique and requires a customized approach.

I hold two master’s degrees: one in Aeronautical Engineering and Air Traffic Control, and another in International Relations. For the past six years, I have worked as an Assistant Professor at the Defense Language Institute—the premier language institute in the United States—where I have taught government employees Russian language, history, culture, and geopolitics. In addition, I have professional experience as an interpreter/translator and as a teacher of English.

I have been teaching English and Russian throughout my professional career to diverse groups, including children, adults, and professionals from various fields.

My mission

My mission is to share knowledge in a fun and engaging way, so that students become fully involved in the learning process and hardly notice the time passing. What inspires me to tutor is seeing students grow in confidence and discover joy in learning.

My Story

I grew up in Saint Petersburg, Russia, where my love for languages and global perspectives grew alongside my technical studies in aerospace engineering. Over the years, I have lived and worked in Russia, Spain, Ireland, France, and the United States, combining careers in interpretation, project management, and teaching. What drew me most to education was the chance to empower people through communication, whether it was helping immigrants in hospitals, supporting refugees through the UNHCR, or teaching government employees Russian language and culture at the Defense Language Institute. Along the way, I’ve learned to adapt to many different environments and challenges, which has made me a flexible and empathetic teacher. Today I live in France with my family, and outside of work I enjoy following astronomy, geopolitics, art, history, music, and culture—interests I often weave into my lessons to keep them dynamic and inspiring.

Cognitive Diversity

How I adapt to students with diverse intellectual needs.

I always try to adjust my teaching style to each student’s individual needs. Whether I am working with a child who has learning difficulties or with a gifted student, my first step is to carefully assess their strengths, weaknesses, and areas of comfort. Based on this assessment, I design a tailored method that fits the way that particular student learns best. For me, personalization is not only about addressing challenges but also about creating opportunities for growth, confidence, and curiosity.

I have worked with students who are very strong or gifted in certain areas but also struggle significantly in others. In individual instruction, this makes it easier to tailor the program to their specific strengths and weaknesses. In my experience, many students across age groups show characteristics of twice-exceptionality to some degree.

I have worked with gifted students and found that the key is to keep them challenged and engaged by going beyond standard material. I encourage critical thinking, offer enrichment activities, and connect lessons to their personal interests so they can explore subjects in greater depth. This helps gifted learners stay motivated and develop both academically and personally.

I have worked with adult students with ADHD, which is becoming increasingly common. When possible, I review the student’s doctor’s notes, assess their needs, and tailor an approach that works best for them. For online instruction, I keep lessons structured and goal-oriented while breaking them into shorter segments. I also use visual aids, interactive exercises, and regular check-ins to maintain focus. These strategies help create an engaging and supportive learning environment where students with ADHD can thrive.

I have worked with one student on the autism spectrum, and I found that the key was first building a relationship of trust. I focused on learning about his interests, where he felt secure and safe, and then connected those interests with the learning topics. This approach kept him calm, engaged, and more receptive to new material.

I have worked with students with dyslexia and found that a multi-sensory approach is most effective—combining visual, auditory, and kinesthetic methods to reinforce learning. I also use repetition, clear structure, and patience, while encouraging students to build confidence by focusing on their strengths alongside reading support.

I have worked with children with sensory processing challenges by creating a calm, structured environment and using visual aids and gentle transitions. Flexibility and regular breaks helped reduce overstimulation and kept them engaged in learning.
