My name is Lakesha Crawford, and I’m a dedicated educator with a passion for helping students thrive both academically and personally. I have experience teaching and tutoring learners of all ages in subjects such as reading, writing, phonics, ELA, math, and ESL, in both traditional and special education settings. I hold advanced degrees in Education, Business, and Counseling, which allow me to support students holistically and meet their individual needs. Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading, writing, playing the piano, listening to music, crafting, soap making, and spending time in nature with my Chihuahua, Sasha. I bring creativity, patience, and joy to every learning experience, and I’m committed to making learning engaging and meaningful for each student I work with.

As an educator, I bring a calm, balanced, and student-centered approach to everything I do. Being naturally introverted helps me connect with students on a deeper level—I’m a good listener, reflective, and intentional about creating a safe, supportive space where students feel seen and valued. That said, I can absolutely tap into my more extroverted side when needed—whether I’m leading a group activity, energizing a lesson, or bringing excitement to the classroom. I’ve found a balance that allows me to show up grounded, engaged, and fully present for my students.

I’m passionate about lifelong learning and feel incredibly honored to inspire that same love of learning in others. Teaching is more than a profession to me—it’s a calling. Every day, I get to invest in the lives of future leaders and world changers, and there’s no greater fulfillment than that.

Creativity is a big part of who I am, and it shows up in my teaching. I love finding ways to make lessons dynamic, interesting, and memorable—especially in subjects like reading and language arts. I use encouragement, affirmation, and positive reinforcement to build confidence and help students take ownership of their learning. I especially enjoy working with students who are shy or introverted, because I know how powerful it can be when someone takes the time to really understand and nurture their growth.

With a background in both education and counseling, I approach each student holistically supporting their academic goals while also being attuned to their emotional needs. Whether online or in person, my goal is always the same: to create a classroom environment where students feel encouraged, capable, and excited to learn.

I have taught and tutored students in various subjects, including phonics, reading, writing, spelling, comprehension, math, ELA, and ESL. I've taught students of all ages and academic skill levels, both online and in traditional classrooms. Additional Educational Credentials: I hold two Master's degrees from Liberty University in counseling and human services, as well as an M.Ed. from the American College of Education.

I have extensive experience teaching and tutoring students across a wide range of subjects, including phonics, reading, writing, spelling, comprehension, math, ELA, and ESL. I've worked with learners of all ages and academic levels in both traditional classroom settings and online learning environments. My background also includes working with students who are shy, introverted, or need extra encouragement, and I pride myself on creating a warm, supportive atmosphere where all students feel safe to grow and take academic risks. With advanced degrees in counseling, human services, and education, I bring both academic expertise and emotional insight to my teaching, helping students thrive not only academically but personally as well.

My mission

My mission as a tutor is to create a supportive, engaging, and affirming learning environment where every student feels seen, heard, and empowered to reach their full potential. I aim to inspire a genuine love for learning by making lessons enjoyable, meaningful, and tailored to each student’s individual needs. My goal is not just to help students improve academically, but to build their confidence, spark their curiosity, and equip them with the tools they need to thrive—both in and beyond the classroom.

My Story

What led me to become a tutor was my deep love for learning and my desire to help others experience that same joy. Over the years, as I worked in classrooms and supported students of all ages, I realized how powerful one-on-one or small group instruction can be. It allows for deeper connections, personalized learning, and the chance to meet students exactly where they are—academically and emotionally. I was especially drawn to tutoring because it gives me the opportunity to focus on the individual needs of each student and provide encouragement and support in a more intentional way. Whether I’m helping a student master a difficult concept or cheering them on as they gain confidence, tutoring allows me to make a real difference in their growth. It’s incredibly fulfilling to watch students begin to believe in themselves and discover that they are capable of more than they imagined.
