My educational approach is largely student centered with a huge focus on active learning. I believe that children are not meant to simply be passive listeners and recipients of information. Instead students should be actively involved in their learning process. This encourages students to ask questions and explore topics of interests and gives them the power to discover new knowledge themselves. I also aim to encourage student engagement with positive and consistent feedback.

Elementary Education Bachelors degree from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
TEFL certification from Let's TEFL accredited.

I have tutored extensively throughout earning my degree, mostly ELA and Math ages 6-12. I also have roughly 4 years experience in child care through nannying two children until both reached school ages. I also have online teaching experience from a three month internship teaching 3rd grade. I have been tutoring for the last few months doing ESL with a LingoAce and reading through Booknook learning.

My mission while tutoring is to create a positive learning environment for each student so that every student feels valued as well as inspired to reach their full potential. I aim to foster a life long love of learning that they can take with them through the rest of their schooling and life beyond.

My Story

I have always had a passion for learning which has transformed over the years into a love of teaching. There's no greater power than knowledge and I am passionate in growing that power in young learners. It something I have known I have wanted to do since high school or even earlier. Since then my greatest loves in life have been teaching and coffee!
