Reina holds a B.A. in Political Science from Columbia University and has years of peer and family tutoring experience, from running review sessions in college to helping her younger siblings prepare for college and learn Mandarin. She tutors children and teens across subjects like early learning, Chinese, ESL, art, and psychology and adapts each lesson to the student’s learning style using visual aids, step-by-step explanations, and plenty of active practice. Because she has lived with dyslexia, she brings personal empathy and practical strategies for learners who need different pathways to success, and she knows how to make lessons both accessible and challenging for gifted students. Reina focuses on building confidence through clear goals, regular review, and hands-on work, and families appreciate her calm, patient manner and practical techniques for improving long-term retention. She has received community awards from Columbia and, outside of teaching, she chases a different kind of focus as a skydiver and wingsuit pilot with more than 800 jumps.

I’m inspired by my own educational journey—overcoming challenges and discovering the value of personalized support—which motivates me to guide others in reaching their full potential.

My Story

I’m a digital nomad who moves around the U.S. depending on the season. Growing up with dyslexia, I had a mentor who patiently read one news article with me each weekend, which helped me gain confidence and showed me the power of personalized learning. That experience inspires me to tutor today, with the goal of supporting students in the same encouraging way.

Having personally experienced dyslexia, I understand that students learn in different ways and require tailored approaches to succeed. I personalize lessons using methods such as visual aids, step-by-step guidance, or enrichment activities, allowing me to effectively support both children with learning differences and gifted students.

I have experience working with children with ADHD and understand the importance of keeping lessons structured, interactive, and engaging. I use strategies such as breaking material into smaller steps, incorporating visual cues.
