My approach to teaching is structured, supportive, and individualized. I believe students thrive when they feel respected, encouraged, and given tools that match their unique learning style. I focus on building confidence, teaching skills step by step, and helping students develop routines they can carry into everyday life.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Music from Berklee College of Music and a master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis with a concentration in mental health from Endicott College. I am also a certified personal trainer with more than 18 years of experience in fitness and wellness.

I have worked in education and coaching for over 15 years, including teaching, tutoring, mentoring, and program leadership. I have supported middle school and high school students in academics, executive function skills, and life skills, as well as coached peers and parents through structured learning approaches.

My mission

My mission as a tutor is to empower every student to feel capable, confident, and understood. I believe learning should be both structured and flexible — structured enough to provide clear steps forward, and flexible enough to meet each child’s unique needs. What inspires me most is helping students discover their own strengths, build real-world skills, and experience the joy of progress in a way that carries over into their everyday lives.

My Story

I grew up in the Midwest and now live in Massachusetts, where I’m raising three children of my own. My journey into teaching began with a love for music — I studied at Berklee College of Music — and expanded into fitness, wellness, and eventually education and behavior analysis. Along the way, I learned how important it is to support not just academics, but also executive function, resilience, and creativity. As both a professional and a parent, I’ve navigated the world of learning differences in my own family, and that experience fuels my commitment to helping kids succeed on their own terms. When I’m not teaching, you can usually find me walking by the ocean, practicing martial arts, or playing piano.

Cognitive Diversity

How I adapt to students with diverse intellectual needs.

I personalize lessons by meeting students where they are, adapting strategies to fit their strengths, and teaching skills in ways that make sense for different kinds of thinkers. I have extensive experience supporting students with ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, anxiety, and other learning differences, as well as students who are gifted or twice-exceptional. I also draw on my personal experience as both a parent and coach of neurodivergent children, which helps me connect with families on a practical and empathetic level.

I have worked extensively with twice-exceptional (2e) students who are both gifted and navigating learning differences such as ADHD, autism, or anxiety. My approach is to nurture their strengths while building scaffolds around areas of challenge, helping them gain confidence and balance in their learning. As a parent of neurodivergent children, I also bring personal insight into supporting 2e learners at home and in academic environments.

I enjoy working with gifted students who need enrichment and challenge to stay engaged. My approach combines higher-level problem-solving, creative projects, and opportunities for independent exploration.

I have worked with profoundly gifted students who require not only advanced academics but also strong social-emotional support. My approach is to create an environment where their intellectual curiosity is nurtured while also supporting balance, self-regulation, and connection.

I have extensive experience working with students who have ADHD. I use strategies such as short, structured tasks, frequent movement breaks, timers, and gamified approaches to sustain attention and engagement online. I also emphasize self-monitoring and routines, helping students build tools they can carry into all areas of life. As a parent of children with ADHD, I bring both professional and lived experience to my work.

I have experience supporting students on the autism spectrum with academic skills, executive function strategies, and social-emotional learning. My approach is structured, empathetic, and individualized, with a focus on creating predictable routines and teaching replacement strategies in a positive way. I also have personal family experience with autism, which deepens my understanding of both the challenges and the strengths these students bring.

I have experience supporting students with dyslexia in both reading and writing. I use multisensory strategies to strengthen phonemic awareness and decoding skills, while also providing tools like audiobooks and dictation to support comprehension and written expression.

I have experience supporting children with sensory processing differences through movement breaks, sensory-friendly environments, and self-regulation strategies. I incorporate tools such as fidgets, visual schedules, and breathing exercises to help students stay engaged and comfortable.
